A Mark of Distinction
Thoughtfully bred & raised with intention. Socialized from day one.
At Iron Rock Farm, we believe exceptional cattle are the result of more than beautiful genetics. They come from careful selection, ethical breeding, thoughtful handling and a commitment to raising animals with calm, respectful temperaments.
Our miniature cattle are raised on our family farm in Bay Minette, Alabama, where their health, well-being and future home are always at the forefront.
We don't just raise cattle. We raise animals we're proud to put our name on.
Why Belted Galloways?
We fell in love with Belted Galloway cattle for three reasons: their unmistakable look, their wonderful temperament and their ability to adapt to a variety of climates. They are calm, social and respectful.
We strive to create the fluffiest, well socialized panda-faced cattle with perfect belts!
Our calves are handled, socialized, desensitized and haltered from just days old. Daily interaction with Amy, along with exposure to our family and farm guests, helps them become comfortable around people and familiar with the experiences they'll encounter throughout their lives.
Raised Differently From Day One
Their socialization includes:
Daily hands-on interaction
Haltering and leading
Exposure to family and farm guests
Bathing and grooming
Learning to calmly accept handling
Regular interaction with other cattle
Whenever possible, our calves are dam raised. We believe there is tremendous value in allowing a calf to grow alongside its mother and the herd.
If medical circumstances require us to intervene and bottle-feed a calf, we take the same thoughtful approach to socialization. Every effort is made to ensure that bottle babies continue interacting with cattle while also receiving plenty of appropriate human contact.

“We couldn't be happier with our experience at Iron Rock Farm and with owner Amy Garrett. We purchased our first two miniature cattle, Emmy Lou and Valentina, from Amy, and that decision ended up being the beginning of something much bigger for our family.
From our very first conversations, Amy was incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, and encouraging. Her passion for miniature cattle and farming is contagious. More than just selling us two beautiful animals, she inspired us to pursue our dream of building a farm of our own.
Emmy Lou and Valentina have been wonderful additions to our family, and we're so grateful that they came from Iron Rock Farm. Amy took the time to answer questions, share her experience, and offer support throughout the process.
If you're looking for quality miniature cattle and someone who genuinely cares about helping others succeed, we highly recommend Iron Rock Farm. Amy Garrett has played a meaningful role in helping us start the farm we're building today, and we will always be thankful for that.”

Socialization starts right away. Our calves are handled, socialized and desensitized from an early age, with daily hands-on interaction from Amy and regular exposure to our family and farm guests.
Their early experiences include haltering and leading, bathing and grooming, calmly accepting handling, meeting new people and regular interaction with other cattle. This helps each calf grow into a confident, well-mannered animal that is comfortable with people and familiar with the everyday experiences they’ll encounter throughout their lives.
-
Yes! Halter training begins when our calves are just days old with daily hands-on interaction from Amy.
As they grow, calves practice haltering and leading while becoming comfortable with bathing, grooming, handling and being around our family and farm guests. This early, consistent training helps them become confident and comfortable on the halter and sets them up for a smoother transition to their new home.
-
Our cattle thrive on a balanced diet of quality grass, hay, grain, and minerals. When your calf goes home, we can provide guidance on their current feeding routine to help make the transition to their new home as smooth as possible.
-
As a general guideline, plan for approximately ½ acre of land per head of cattle. The amount of space needed can vary depending on factors like pasture quality, forage availability, and how many cattle you plan to keep.
-
Absolutely! Cattle are social animals and thrive with companionship. It is a requirement that our calves go to a home where they will have a cow friend or they must be purchased in a pair if there are no other cattle on the property.Having a companion helps them feel secure, comfortable and part of a herd.
