BABYDOLL SHEEP
Bring a Smile to Your Farm
Babydoll sheep are known for their teddy-bear faces and smiling expressions.
Commonly referred to as the "smiling sheep," our flock is small and handled daily. Babydoll sheep are naturally polled, docile in nature, compact in build and full of personality!
Our lambs are raised on our family farm in Bay Minette, Alabama, where their health, well-being and future home are always at the forefront.
Why Babydoll Sheep?
Small & easy to handle. Docile & charming. Beautiful wool quality.
There’s a lot to love about these little sheep!
Part of the Family
Our lambs are handled, socialized and desensitized from just days old. Amy is constantly in and out of their pastures and stalls, so human interaction is simply part of their everyday life. Farm guests also have opportunities to give them treats and shower them with attention.
That regular exposure helps our lambs become familiar with people and the sights, sounds, and activity of a busy farm.
Their socialization includes:
Daily hands-on interaction
Exposure to family and farm guests
Grooming
Learning to calmly accept handling
Regular interaction with other sheep
Mama Knows Best
We believe in giving every ewe the opportunity to raise her own lambs whenever possible.
Every effort is made to support the ewe and allow her to raise her lamb naturally. If intervention is needed, we will step in with bottle feeding while keeping the lamb with the flock whenever possible.
A note on their temperament: It’s important to remember that sheep are flight animals by nature. Their first instinct when they feel threatened is to flee. That said, they are an absolute delight to sit back and watch.

Absolutely. Your lamb’s health is a top priority from the moment they’re born. All Iron Rock lambs leave the farm with age-appropriate vaccinations fully administered, routine worming and a veterinary health certificate. You’ll also receive their health records so you have a clear history of their care and can share it with your veterinarian.

We don’t provide in-house delivery, but we’re happy to help make transportation arrangements as seamless as possible. For buyers who need livestock transportation, we can provide contact information for experienced haulers, including Almost Home Livestock Transport by Victor Ash and Luxelivestock and Transportation by Troy Tuggle.
Transportation is coordinated directly with the buyer to ensure your calf’s journey is planned carefully and as comfortably as possible.
-
Socialization starts right away. Our lambs are handled, socialized and desensitized from an early age, with daily hands-on interaction from Amy and regular exposure to our family and farm guests.
Their early experiences include calmly accepting handling, grooming, meeting new people and regular interaction with other sheep. This helps each lamb grow into a confident, well-mannered animal that is comfortable with people and familiar with the everyday experiences they’ll encounter throughout their lives.
-
Babydoll sheep should be sheared at least once a year to keep their wool and skin healthy and comfortable. At Iron Rock Farm, our flock is typically sheared in March, giving them a fresh start for the warmer months and allowing their beautiful wool to grow back throughout the year.
-
Our Babydoll sheep are fed a balanced diet of quality hay, grain, and sheep-specific minerals. Their nutritional needs can vary based on age, pasture conditions, and individual needs, so we’re happy to provide guidance on their current feeding routine when they go to their new home.
-
Babydoll sheep don’t require a large amount of space, making them a great option for smaller farms and homesteads. Rotational grazing is preferred when pasture is available, allowing you to move the flock between areas while giving the grass time to recover. The amount of land needed will ultimately depend on your pasture quality, number of sheep, and overall management.
-
Absolutely! Sheep are naturally social animals and need a companion to feel secure and thrive. It is a requirement that our Babydoll sheep go to a home where they will have a sheep friend or flock. If you don’t already have sheep, we recommend purchasing a pair so they can settle into their new home together.
